favorite color?

Remember when you were little and everyone asked what your favorite color was?  Actually, I don't remember anyone asking me that question - ever. But I ask everyone and many people can readily proclaim their favorite color because each of us is drawn to certain colors - consistently. I love almost every shade of blue. In fact, my son has several middle names - one of which is Blue.  It's the color of the morning sky. It's the color of the night sky.  It's the color of the ocean.  Blue is the color of forever.

My mother was crazy for orange when I was little - to the point of buying an orange Volvo station wagon.  Unfortunately, our orange car was a real lemon, and the color was it's most outstanding feature.  But the best thing about that car for 12 year-old me was the jump seat in the way back.  Riding backwards to school?  Can't beat that when you're singing the Beatles' Hello Goodbye in a car pool at 8am.

I always hated purple.  HATED.  But when my daughter was little, she loved purple with an intensity that was hard to refute and I had to get past my revulsion in order to shop for her little purple pants (and dresses and t-shirts and tiny hair ties...). Now that I have a garden - I kinda love purple. Because purple and green, right?  The comic book geeks I live with like to point out that bad guys are always purple and green.  How is that a thing?

Even though I love blue - it's not my favorite color every day .  I have different favorites all the time. I love pizza, but I don't eat it for every meal.  Occasionally - you gotta change it up and have a bagel and lox, right?  This green stopped me dead in my tracks a few months ago.  It was the color of my Danish school bag in high school. I miss that bag - still.   I can feel my heart skip a beat when I see that color.

Every once in a while a color comes along and I can't get enough of it.  I just want to dive in. This is my favorite color today.

Yep - pink. Clay, to be exact. In the form of Quince & Co's Chickadee yarn. Ooh -  I'm in love. There's something old world and modern about her at the same time. Perfect for a little lace number in a simple silhouette. Let's do this.
